quartz

Quartz

Quartz is one of the hardest and most common minerals on Earth. Because of its strength and abundance, quartz is a popular and reliable choice for countertops. Quartz countertops are sometimes referred to as “engineered” or “man-made,” but quartz is in fact a natural stone. The amount of natural quartz in a slab depends on the quartz manufacturer. Cambria is among the highest concentration of pure quartz to ensure strong, compact slabs.

Granite

Granite is the favorite surface for kitchen countertops due to its high density. It is an igneous rock and is therefore, nearly scratch resistant and can withstand extreme heat.

With granite, you have a huge array of colors to choose from. Granite is a natural rock, and so experiences some of the same benefits of appearance that marble does. Granite is a natural rock so it makes sense that it should come in a large variety of colors and patterns, considering that granite itself is harvested from all over the world.

soapstone

Soapstone is beautifully colored and offers rich, deep colors for countertops. Typically, new soapstone counters start off a light gray in color, then darken with age. Solid Surface

Solid surface is manufactured by mixing acrylic or polyester resin with powdered bauxite filler and pigments. Cured material is then cut in sheets or shapes. Solid surface fabricators buy full sheets and cut and glue the parts together to build a custom countertop. Solid surface countertops can have integrated undermounted sinks bonded into the countertop during fabrication.

wood

Wood

There are all kinds of options of wood countertops, including butcher block, salvaged wood, exotic species, and many different stains and sealers. Wood countertops are cozy, informal and offer a warm, approachable feel. As long as wood counters are religiously maintained, they are perfectly sanitary for food prep. Solid surface materials have extensive color and pattern options.
